THABI MOYO, FOUNDER

She is a pretty intuitive person – almost to the point of being clairvoyant. She somehow has the knack to be able to connect the dots between the art and culture of yesteryear and the trends of today and tomorrow. At her root,  she is also an organizer. With her, everything has to be in a certain order. That’s a big part of what drives Thabi.

Not to layer on the hubris, but her incomparable skill set includes a wealth of experience in event coordination, film production, photography, and tour management. Thabi's background intertwines the rich strands of African culture, courtesy of Zimbabwe, with the heritage of the black American experience into a vibrant tapestry woven on the cusp of the fertile Mississippi delta.

Thabi started the IBFC to help people of color who are interested in creating or just taking part in telling our own stories. She hopes to connect those interested with film festival, funders, and film crews on a deeper level. She feels that the IBFC will be a platform for creating a systems that helps more black stories get told with black people controlling the narrative.
